Every Sales Demo Looks The Same

Every platform shows you a map with moving dots on it. That is not what matters. What matters is what happens on a wet Tuesday when a device stops reporting and the vehicle is out on a job.

Ask These Questions

  • Who fits it, and how long does it take? A standard install is just three wires and ten to thirty minutes. If it takes longer, ask why.
  • Where is support based? Not a support queue in a different time zone, but a team in the country you actually operate in, plus an online system for reporting issues directly.
  • How are fixes delivered? Most fixes should be sent automatically over the network, without the vehicle needing to come off the road.
  • What is the warranty? Get it in writing, and ask specifically what happens if the device itself is faulty. Warranty packages should run from one year up to a lifetime, with free replacement.
  • What happens when the signal drops? The device should keep recording on its own and upload the data once it reconnects, so driving through a dead zone does not create a gap in your records.
  • Who owns the data, and can you take it with you? If you cannot export your own history, you are not really a customer — you are stuck.
QuestionWeak answerStrong answer
Install"We'll schedule a technician visit""Ten to thirty minutes, three wires, at your yard"
Support"Email our helpdesk""Local team plus in-app support, fixes sent automatically"
Warranty"Standard terms apply""One year to lifetime, free replacement if the device is faulty"
Coverage"Should be fine""Phone network coverage across the islands, with on-device recording where signal drops"

The Commercial Part

Get a price per vehicle per month that includes everything: the device, the fitting, the SIM card, the software, and the support. Then ask what changes when it is time to renew. A price that only holds for the first year is not really a price.

Before you sign

Run a small trial on five vehicles for one month, across your toughest routes. Coverage, how fast support responds, and the quality of the reports will all show themselves within four weeks.

The Real Test

The right provider is the one that can still answer the phone on the island where your vehicle broke down. Features are easy to copy. Actually being there is not.
